Just the FAQs Ma'am, just the FAQs

Answers to some of the more common questions we get asked about our murder mystery parties. If you cannot find your questions answered here then please do ask us via the contact page.

What themes can you accommodate?

This is limited only by your imagination! We have produced scenarios as diverse as vicars and tarts, a Nile cruise, 1920's Chicago gangsters and rival curry houses. See our previous convictions page for some ideas and consult the murder mystery theme page to help you decide what would suit your party. If your group is into underwater Andean flute music, then we can provide a scenario to suit, given sufficient time to research!

How many guests can I invite?

This is limited by the venue size, but we have held events with over 150 guests, and could easily entertain more in a large enough hall.

How much does it all cost?

The cost of a murder mystery event will vary according to many factors, including location, number of performers and duration. For a simple scenario in the local area (Somerset), where Murder to Measure provides an MC only, you should budget at around £300. Actors, catering etc. are priced in addition to this. To request a quote, contact us via the contact page.

What do you provide?

Our events are designed to provide as much or as little as you require. We have provided as little as cue cards for a group of friends right the way through to weekend accommodation, performers and catering. What we guarantee is that we will provide something that will suit your budget, guests and ideas -everyone deserves a little murder now and then

When are you paid?

We usually ask for a small deposit to secure the booking and cover initial expenses, the balance is then paid on the night.

Are your events suitable for children?

Murder is a serious business, and some of our scenarios cover mature themes, but are never explicit and would be suitable for teenagers. If you wish to include younger children in your event, then please us know, and the scenario will be tailored accordingly. If you are thinking of attending an event with younger children, then contact us, and we can give you an indication of the suitability.

What should I tell my caterers to do? Won't they be interrupted by all the goings on?

Ask the caterers to act as if it were a normal dinner. The performers will fit around them.

How much notice do I need to give you when making a booking?

Obviously, the more notice we have, the better, but we aim to be able to accommodate events with as little as three weeks notice. Any less than that, and we'll certainly see what we can do.

None of my guests have acted before - will this matter?

Provided that the guests nominated as performers want to take part, then no. Our MC's are experienced in nudging everyone in the right direction, instructions are kept simple, there is no script to learn, and everything is tailored to suit the performers.

How can I work out whodunnit?

We pride ourselves in making mysteries that can be solved if you watch and listen closely enough. It's never easy - but remember that every murder needs a motive and an opportunity - if you can work out the only person with both, then he or she is guilty! If you feel like boning up before you visit us, then you could do worse than reading how to solve a murder mystery. That covers the fundamental questions you should ask of the suspects.

I don't want a dinner, will this matter?

Not at all. We can structure the event around anything - karaoke, quiz nights, party games, scavenger hunts, treasure hunts, dancing, meetings, ten-pin bowling - whatever takes your fancy.
