A 1920's gangster mystery
This scenario was first staged in Ilminster, Somerset, and subsequently revised for fewer performers in Burgess Hill and East Lambrook. It's naturally well suited to Valentine's Day, but can be staged any time in the year.
Synopsis
It is Chicago, 1929, and the employees at Sunshine Beauty Products are mourning the loss of their employee and founder, Al Kaseltzer, at his speak easy, The Rumbling Tum. Having been shot at his speak easy last night, the new de facto boss, Big Julie (Don't tell him it's a girl's name!), is keen to unmask the killer without involving the police.
The rivalry within the company is fierce, and it seems that the company may not be totally on the level when it comes to describing its main source of income
Participants
Five, four or three active performers in total, with some doubling.
About 50 guests (limited by venue size) were encouraged to interract with and question the suspects throughout as they circulated around the dining rooms
Structure
Staged with Murder to Measure performers around a 3 course meal. Action took place in two inter-connecting dining rooms with introductions and final revelation in a common reception area, but could be performed in a single room.
Complexity
Medium - a fun event with some lateral thinking and careful observation required to solve.
Age rating
PG - This story contains themes typical to murder mysteries, including murder, crime and human relationships, but nothing unsuitable for children.
