Midsomer Medical Centre is a traditional medical practice celebrating 10 years in business, although recently many patients have sought alternative therapies. The practice, and its principal, Doctor Kilgore Payne are being investigated by the Royal College, as mortality seem unusually high for the area.
There are just two doctors in the practice: Dr Kilgore himself and a new-comer, Dr Dicky Ticker, who comes from a relatively cushy life aboard a cruise ship. His attitude does not go down well with the practice nurse, Phyllida Payne, but she reluctantly goes along with her husband's appointment.
Also present, as ever, is Ivor Gottit � such a frequent visitor to the surgery that it almost feels that he's part of the family.
