A Valentine's Day Mascara

1920s_picture

It is Chicago, 1929. Alcohol and gambling are illegal, yet the city continues to see a healthy underground trade in both. Against this backdrop of protectionism and extortion, the employees at Sunshine Beauty Products are mourning the loss of their employee and founder, Al Kaseltzer, at his speak easy, The Rumbling Tum.

His death has left an opening for a new head and Big Julie (don't tell him it's a girl's name!) has assumed control, much to the chagrin of many other employees. Altough suspicion for the murder falls upon the notorious Red Hand Gang, Julie is keeping an open mind and is keen to unmask the killer without involving the police.

Will his rivals in the company rebel against his ideas and what interest does the FBI have in the seemingly innocent dealings of a respectable manufacture of perfume and make-up?
