Tudor Manor Died

elizabethan_picture

It is 1590, 32 years into the reign of Elizabeth I and 2 years after the defeat of the Spanish Armada. Following the discovery of several plots against the monarch, suspicion of Catholics is high. It is, however, a golden age of discovery and literature, and, despite financial difficulties, England continues to flourish and expand its influences.

Buoyed by expansions into new lands, Sir Jekyll Spirit plans to sponsor Mary Frobisher, who hopes to establish a trading post in the New World. To mark her imminent departure he has invited friends and people of influence to a banquet. This banquet will see the performance of a new play by eminent writer Sir Kit Harlow and his troupe. Not everyone agrees with Mary's motivations, however, and in Tudor times murder is often just around the corner.

This story is rooted in Tudor history, but guests do not need to have an extensive knowledge of the period to participate. Costumes, however, would usually need to be hired, and this can be arranged, see advice here.
