A teenagers' murder mystery
This scenario was first performed in October 2007 for a kids' birthday party near Staines, Middlesex. Roles were played by party guests with an MC to keep everything moving on the night.
Synopsis
It is 1962, and the kids of Marvel High in Baltimore are attending the school prom under the watchful eye of Miss Pinky. Each hopes to gain a starring role in the popular TV programme, the Corny Gaggs show, and will stop at nothing to realise their dreams.
No-one is keener to hit the big time than talented but unpopular Hannah Huffenpuffer; will she impress Corny or will cheerleader Sophy Von Tassles burst her bubble? Whatever happens, class president Will Clinton and swot Darla pizza want the evening to go well, but their plans are frequently thwarted by the disruptive efforts of class drop-outs Sky Larkin and his mate Scratch. With plenty of swots, jocks, pink ladies, loners and drop-outs to egg everyone on, there could be some tears before bed time.
With TV stardom at stake, and teenage emotions on display, surely this evening couldn't result in murder? Whatever the outcome, the hairspray industry is sure to benefit.

10 participants plus MC plus the active participation of the other guests in various roles.
Structure
Staged with party guests around a typical school prom with recorded music and party food. Includes quizzes, dancing and plenty of prizes. This murder mystery story could easily be adapted for fans of Grease, High School Musical or Fame.
Death(s) occurred in full view of the guests.
Complexity
Easy - the emphasis remains on party fun for youngsters rather than hard sleuthing.
Age rating
PG - there is a death and some raised voices, but no adult themes.
