A Murder Mystery Suitable For Themed Dining
This scenario was first staged in the Millennium Hall, Seavington St Mary, Somerset in March 2007. The brief was to provide a sceanrio set in Spain and guests were encouraged to bring their own Spanish meals, costumes and table decorations.
Synopsis
The exclusive Playa de Musica resort on Spain's Costa Fortuna is hosting a social evening for tourists to view facilities etc. in the hope that they'll buy a timeshare or villa. Our hosts are the "camp" entertainer, Freddie Mercurio and his right hand woman, Trudy Light, a girl with a shady history. The hosts organise entertainment including Karaoke and a quiz, and circulate to sell the benefits of the resort.
Into this friendly atmosphere is thrust the notorious Banks gang, who have just pulled off a daring robbery in the UK and have fled to evacde capture. With many secrets in their past tensions run high, and the search for the missing diamond, the "Star of Wonder" leads ultimately to accusations, recriminaions and murder.
Participants
Five active performers in total. The parts of Robin Banks and Freddie Mercurio were played by the same actor, but this role could easily be divided between performers.
About 50 guests were encouraged to interract with and question the suspects throughout as they circulated around the room.
Structure
Staged with Murder to Measure performers around a sit down meal where guests provided their own fare. As the were no "courses" as such, the action was divided between "entertainment" events - the quiz and karaoke. Both entertainmets were important to the plot, and the performers took part, but guests can also be encouraged to take part if desirede.
Death(s) occurred in full view of the guests.
