A murder mystery for those with the X-Factor

This scenario was first performed in October 2007 for a birthday party in Templecombe, Somerset. Roles were played by party guests with an MC to keep eveything moving on the night.

Synopsis

murder mystery group

It is 1959 and Butlins are opening a new holiday camp in Bognor Regis. F E Casey ("Efficiency is my middle name") has been tasked with scouring the country to find new talent to appear at the camp when it opens next summer. The area has produced a motley bag of hopefuls, which Felicity has agreed to audition at a local party.

It soon becomes clear that this was not such a great idea, as magicians, singers and exotic dancers don't mix well and the local landlord doesn't help the atmosphere. The stars attempt to outdo each other with their acts, but some seem prepared to go to great lengths to win the coveted first place.

This scenario originally had a 1950s theme, but can be adapted to any other decade, and it is not absolutely necessary for the performers to have any special talent to show off. This story works particularly well with a live bad present.
